Mr. James Biggins (right), Standing Consultant of TÜV SÜD Global Risk Advisory Company and Chairman of Energy Storage System Technical Committee of the United States, awarded a TÜV SÜD Certification for Product SE1000-L Megawatt Energy Storage System from Great Power.
TÜV SÜD Group (hereinafter referred to as "TÜV SÜD") issued the first PPP 59044A: 2015 certificate for SE1000-l MW Energy Storage System from Guangzhou Great Power Energy & Technology Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as "Great Power") for the European market, in the international energy storage market and policy session of the 9th China International Energy Storage Conference recently. The awarding of this certificate indicates that the product meets the international standards for energy storage applications.
TÜV SÜD engineers provided technical support on product design, installation and commissioning, and conducted rigorous tests on site, so as to make sure that the Container Energy Storage System conforms to standards and is a product with safety. This type of Container Energy Storage System that is certified by TÜV SÜD not only meets the requirements from IEC and EN standards in the field of electrical safety and battery system safety, but also meets the requirements of technical standards in terms of electromagnetic compatibility and emergency design, etc. The integrated subsystems and components, such as PCS, air conditioning, lighting, electrical protection and switchgear, etc., meet the requirements from the EN standard, especially the Fire Extinguishing and Fire Alarm System selected meets the mandatory requirements on CE from EU.

The standard puts forward technical requirements on the whole system and subsystems including container foundations, battery systems, HVAC systems, lighting systems, PCS, monitoring and management systems, electrical installations / complete equipment, gas alarm systems, security systems, fire protection systems, access control systems, etc., which controls the technical risks of components, coordinates the functions of various subsystems, and comprehensively escorts the safety of the Container Energy Storage System.
The contents for test and evaluation of the fire risk control of the Energy Storage System in the PPP 59044A standard include: reduce the battery fire risk through the battery safety, especially the thermal runaway and spread test of the battery; increase the safety and reliability of the battery system during the charge and discharge process through the safety assessment on BMS function; ensure the warning and suppression of electrical fires through the evaluation of the fire protection system; in addition, the standard also evaluates the emergency channels and access control systems for people to enter the system to ensure that personnel can safely exit when the fire alarm.
